Biography
A powerhouse of pop-punk pleasure, Pike’s lo-fi indie assault leaves their legions of both real life and MySpace fans ready to ditch their crappy jobs and join the 24/7 Pike Party. Their first project, “The Sound of Power Tools” EP, is packed tight with infectious anthems full of sharp-witted pop culture references, joyful handclaps, random daily observations and crackling electric harmonies. Now, Pike has returned with their new EP “…from someone so small” which promises more of the same dynamic, punk-influenced, electric energy.
As a band in demand with a full schedule of local gigs, Pike has also got confirmed showcases at high-profile National music conferences and festivals, including The Invasion of the Go Girls at South by Southwest (Austin, TX), Hyperactive Music Fest (Albuquerque, NM), and Dfest (Tulsa, OK) all through 2007. A hard-working independent band with a head for out-of-the-box promotion, Pike recently wrote the theme song for the Cincinnati Rollergirls titled “Jawbreaker (Love Theme from the Cincinnati Rollergirls).”
Raging out of Cincinnati, Ohio, Pike was originally formed in the late spring of 1995 by percussionist Holly Knepfle and guitarist/vocalist Kelley Kombrinck. In 2002, Pike was reformed with the additions of guitarist/vocalist Kelly Jarvis and bassist Wade Weber.
Their songs are written together, with topics ranging from quitting their day jobs to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Their goal is to continue making music they love, and to influence other artists the way The Breeders, Reverend Horton Heat, The Pixies, Nirvana, and Primus have influenced them.
