Biography
Their first project in 2005, “The Sound of Power Tools” EP, was packed tight with infectious anthems full of sharp-witted pop culture references, joyful handclaps, random daily observations and crackling electric harmonies. Pike returned in 2007 with the EP “…from someone so small” with more of the same dynamic, punk-influenced, electric energy. Their next release is scheduled for 2011, and it will be the first full length album for the group.

Pike has played showcases at high-profile National music conferences and festivals, including The Invasion of the Go Girls at South by Southwest (Austin, TX), Hyperactive Music Fest (Albuquerque, NM), and Dfest (Tulsa, OK), and the Rock Meets Runway event held at the Hard Rock Cafe, Times Square (New York, NY). They also wrote the theme song for the Cincinnati Rollergirls titled “Jawbreaker (Love Theme from the Cincinnati Rollergirls).”

From Cincinnati, Ohio, Pike was originally formed in the late spring of 1995 by percussionist Holly Knepfle and guitarist/vocalist Kelley Kombrinck (they first met because Kelley noticed Holly wearing her Nirvana tshirt/s and decided he should go say hi to her at her locker). In 2002, Pike was reformed with the additions of guitarist/vocalist Kelly Jarvis and bassist Wade Weber. In 2009 there was another change in roster, and Andrea Lee (of Mona Medusa, Peter Adams, and Frontier Folk Nebraska) came on as lead guitar player.

Their songs are written together, with topics ranging from love (of course), bee keepers, mermaids, sunsets, and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Their goal is to continue making music they love, and to influence other artists the way The Breeders, Reverend Horton Heat, The Pixies, Primus, and Sonic Youth have influenced them.
